Project 03 isn’t about any trek towards the fortune 500. It isn’t about fame and it isn’t about fortune so much as it’s about freedom of choice and to not whither away behind a desk as the world runs by. It’s about the simple things:
A breath of fresh aire
A chance to work out on the patio during a blossoming spring day
A chance to go pick up the oldold man and road trip with’m back from Southwest Florida
A chance to work third shift instead of first shift if life ran you a little ragged the days before
It’s about the desired freedoms dreamed of when sequested in claustrophobic college dorm rooms, all without the opportunities having to be coordinated, approved, documented and signed in triplicate by someone who’s more concerned about cost than investment.
As Amos Lee sang,
“It’s just these simple things that keep me holding on.” – Amos Lee
I do internet marketing for these freedoms. Otherwise it’s paradoxical that one so social would spend most of his time on a paralyzing little black box.
But it’s these little things that are driving me crazy.
- A missed deadline
- “Well, I’ll get it to you tomorrow I promise my friend.”
- “I promise I’ll do it.”
- “Oh, we forgot to mention that one, [too].”
- “I meant to email it.”
- “It should have been in there.”
- “Well, let’s meet about it.”
- “Oh, something came up.”
And the proverbial mountain of ticky-tack, nitp-pickety minutia that makes those freedoms seem as a far away as they did when I was counting down the seemingly endless days to freedom from Denom U – and feeling like a whole, trusted person, again.
Sometimes, it’s just good to lament. I’ve gotten enough advice on how I should use this blog:
Lead Generator…
Thought Leader…
…blah blah & meh-meh inbound marketing praxis that just makes me want to throw my iPhone 4 through a table top. It stopped being inspiring a long time ago. Only so many ways one can repackage a prepackaged concept. That’s why this site won’t do it anymore than as pertinent to my journey to bluesbookdom.
And that’s all I really care about: inspiring, caring, growing, learning, experiencing, loving.
And publishing them books of blues. That’s what this site is – a chronicling of the journey.
One menial checklist at a time.
Anyone else ever feel this way?
By the way, here’s the song, “Simple Things, “By Amos Lee.

Lyrics to, “Simple Things,” by Amos Lee
When I am returning
Another day on the job
It’s like a revelation coming home
Seeing you sleeping with the light on
Mm hmmIt’s just these simple things
Keep me holding on
It’s just these simple things
Keep me holding on
I can’t go back
Right these wrongs
Oh, but these simple things keep me holding on
Mm hmmWell I know it gets hard, baby
Things get crooked and crossed
Sometimes I just get so hardly baby
I start feeling lost
Mm hmmIt’s just these simple things
Keep me holding on
It’s just these simple things
Keep me holding on
I can’t go back
Right these wrongs
Oh, but these simple things keep me holding on
